Morning Prayer is an independently published collection of nineteen short poems and accompanying photographs shaped over a year of internal and external journeying—four months of which were spent travelling across Europe with limited resources and a deeply personal kind of faith. The collection, first released in 2025, spans themes of solitude, spiritual inheritance, scripture, learned behaviour, and rediscovery. The works reflect Ella's creative practice as a storyteller, weaving her photography—archival and analog—into verses, reaching for divinity within the mundane.
Paterson’s debut poetry collection, All the Small Gods, All the Young Angels (2021), was also self-published and quickly sold out its first local print run. Her creative voice draws inspiration from ancestral memory, the gothic contours of the Australian landscape, the lyricism of folk storytelling, and a conception of God shaped more by feeling than doctrine. Her work seeks to honour growth, reflection, and the written word as a means to process and learn.
